Every Cerberus Candle is a unique creation.
Our candles are individually hand-poured and coloured so that no two are identical.

Product Info

  • Wax

Our products are made with 100% soy wax. Soy wax is a vegetable wax and is a natural and renewable product. It is non-toxic and non-carcinogenic and provides a clean burn, so it is considered environmentally friendly.

Soy wax candles emit less smoke and soot than regular paraffin wax candles. Soy also has a lower melting point than paraffin wax, meaning that soy wax burns at a cooler temperature and soy wax candles will last longer than paraffin candles.

  • Fragrance

Fragrance has the power to evoke emotion so we only use the best.

Our oils are designed and developed in Australia and are completely vegan and cruelty-free. Produced specifically as a candle and soap making supply, they are synthetic in substance, however many of our blends do contain a high percentage of essential oils for an accurate and natural scent. They are nontoxic and do not contain palm oil.

  • Cotton Wicks

We use coreless, non directional, flat braided wicks. They are made out of natural cotton fibres and have a special paper filament woven around them which keeps them rigid and makes them well suited to vegetable-based waxes such as soy.
They are zinc and lead free and are acid resistant.

  • Wax Melt Care

Please follow our tips to help you stay safe while indulging in the full fragrance of our melts:

    · Only use melts in an electric
warmer or oil burner that has been specifically designed for soy wax melts.

    · Place device on a heat-resistant
    surface, away from drafts.

    · Snap individual melt bars off
the main block and place the desired amount into the dish of your device. We recommend using one block at a time, but if you have a large dish and require
more fragrance, you can add a second bar.

    ·  Do not add water or any foreign objects.

    · Keep away from children and pets and ensure that any electric warmer cables cannot be reached, pulled at or tripped over.

    · Do not move the device while it
    contains hot, melted wax.

    · Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

    · Never leave your device unattended while in use.

    · Each block should provide 10+
hours of fragrance and can be re-used as often as you like, for as long as the fragrance remains.

    · Allow wax to cool and reset
before moving the device or switching to a new fragrance.

    · To remove cooled, solid wax from your device, turn the device on for approximately 20 seconds to loosen the edges, then carefully slide the solid block from the dish. Use a paper towel to wipe out any melted residue, being careful to avoid burns by touching the hot wax or heated device.

    ·  Never clean your device with
chemicals, as the residue may be flammable and possibly emit harmful gases on subsequent uses.

  • Candle Care

For optimum safety and enjoyment, please follow our guidelines which will also help to prolong the life of your candle:

    • Trim the wick to 6mm length before every use.
    • When burning for the first time, allow the candle to burn to the edge of the vessel (allow approximately 2-3 hours) to create a memory and avoid tunnelling.
    • Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
    • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
    • Avoid drafts and items that may catch alight.
    • Keep away from children and pets.
    • Do not move a candle while it is lit or wax is melted.
    • Extinguish with a candle dipper or snuffer to care for wicks and avoid splashes.
    • Keep clean and free of dust and debris.
    • Store your candle upright and away from excessive light and temperatures.
    • Discard when wax is 10mm from the bottom of the vessel. To avoid glass overheating and exploding.

  • Frosting

You may notice a white coating on the surface of some of your candles. You will see this usually down the sides and against the glass. This is called "polymorphism", but is often referred to as "frosting" or "crystallisation".

Frosting is unique to vegetable waxes, and in particular soy wax. It is caused by re-crystallisation during the candle-making process as the wax is taken from a solid form, to a melted liquid, and then back to a solid again. The addition of colours can make
    frosting appear more noticeable.

Our candles are made from 100% soy wax and we do not add anti-frosting additives so that they remain clean and natural. While we do our utmost to lessen the effect of frosting, it is not always completely unavoidable. Some candle makers view frosting as a sign that the candle is, indeed, made from pure soy wax. It can also enhance the look of our colouring technique by giving it an interesting textured appearance.

Please bear in mind that frosting in no way effects the quality and performance of your candle. By following our candle care guidelines you should continue to enjoy your Cerberus candle to its full extent.

  • Yellowing / Fading

Just as sunlight will turn white fabrics yellow and make coloured fabrics fade, so too does it affect the brightness of your candles. The UV rays found in sunlight
and fluorescent lighting will begin to affect the soy wax and dyes, so we recommend keeping them away from direct sunlight to help maintain their original appearance.

Scents such as vanilla, citrus and many florals can also cause wax discolouration. As these fragrances are used in many of our candles, gradual yellowing may start to appear overtime. Please remember that this does not affect the performance of your candle.

  • Tunnelling

When a candle burns vertically down the centre, leaving solid wax around the outer edge of the vessel, it is referred to as "tunnelling". Candle wax has a memory, so your first burn is important, as it creates the melt pool that all subsequent burns will follow. If you extinguish your candle before it reaches the edge of the vessel on the first burn, then your candle will only ever burn to that same diameter on future burns.

To avoid tunnelling, please allow each new candle to burn to the edge of the vessel the first time it is lit. This usually takes at least two hours, but may take longer depending on the length of your trimmed wick.

If you have found yourself with a tunnelling problem, don't despair. Minor tunnelling can often be repaired by wrapping aluminium foil around your candle, leaving an opening at the top for the flame to burn. The foil will help to contain the heat and reflect it back onto the solid wax along the sides to help it to melt into the pool.

Please be careful to supervise your candle at all times and remember that both the foil and the vessel will become hot. Only ever burn your candle on a heat-resistant surface and never leave a burning candle unattended. Please refer to our Candle Care guide for further safety information.
