The Inflexible
The Inflexible
Of the three sisters of destiny, Atropos was the eldest of the Moirai (Fates). Their roles were to provide the principal of natural order and balance within the cosmos by determining the fate of all who were born. Not even the gods were excluded from their will and even the mighty god, Zeus, was considered merely the executor of destiny, rather than one who allotted it.
The Moirai essentially stood for the inescapable cycle of life. They governed the birth, life and death of every individual. They were routinely portrayed as being stern, old women and were often feared. Young women were known to offer locks of their hair in a bid to placate the Moirai.
Atropos’ was also referred to as the Goddess of Death. Her name translates to “inflexible”, “unturnable” or “unalterable” as her decision was considered to be one of finality. It was she who determined the unwanted, yet inevitable finale of life. While the youngest sister, Clotho, spun the thread of life and Lachesis measured out the length, it was Atropos who would set the time and nature of one’s death by cutting the thread with her shears.
Atropos was most commonly symbolised by her shears, but occasionally her icons were known to be scrolls or tablets (to symbolise that “it is written”), scales (for the measure of one’s time) or a sundial (to indicate the sun setting on a life).

Candles:
For optimum safety and enjoyment, please follow our guidelines which will also help to prolong the life of your candle:
• Trim the wick to 6mm length before every use.
• When burning for the first time, allow the candle to burn for at least 2 hours - or to the edge of the vessel - to create a memory and avoid tunnelling.
• Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Avoid drafts and items that may catch alight.
• Keep away from children and pets.
• Do not move a candle while it is lit or wax is melted.
• Extinguish with a candle dipper or snuffer to care for wicks and avoid splashes.
• Keep clean and free of dust and debris.
• Store your candle upright and away from excessive light and temperatures.
• Discard when wax is 10mm from the bottom of the vessel.
Melts:
· Only use melts in an electric
warmer or oil burner that has been specifically designed for soy wax melts.
· Place device on a heat-resistant
surface, away from drafts.
· Snap individual melt bars off
the main block and place the desired amount into the dish of your device. We recommend using one block at a time, but if you have a large dish and require
more fragrance, you can add a second bar.
· Do not add water or any foreign
objects.
· Keep away from children and pets and ensure that any electric warmer cables cannot be reached, pulled at or tripped over.
· Do not move the device while it
contains hot, melted wax.
· Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
· Never leave your device
unattended while in use.
· Each block should provide 10+
hours of fragrance and can be re-used as often as you like, for as long as the fragrance remains.
· Allow wax to cool and reset
before moving the device or switching to a new fragrance.
· To remove cooled, solid wax from your device, turn the device on for approximately 20 seconds to loosen the edges, then carefully slide the solid block from the dish. Use a paper towel to wipe out any melted residue, being careful to avoid burns by touching the hot wax or heated device.
· Never clean your device with
chemicals, as the residue may be flammable and possibly emit harmful gases on subsequent uses.
