The Goat
The Goat
CONSTELLATION: The Horned Goat
POSITION: 10th Sign of the Zodiac
DATES: December 22 - January 20
ELEMENT: Earth
In Latin, the word Capricornus means "horned goat". The constellation Capricorn was believed to have been created by Zeus (god of the sky and the king of gods), but there are two stories that lend themselves to the reason why. One states that the constellation is in honour of Amaltheia, the goat nymph, who nursed Zeus as an infant while his mother, Rhea, tried to hide Zeus from his father, Cronus, who used to devour his children. The second tale involves the fertility deity, Pan (god of the wild, shepherds and flocks). After Zeus and the Olympian gods defeated the Titans, the fire-breathing monster, Typhon, sought vengeance for the fallen. In order to escape him, the Olympians sought refuge in Egypt and disguised themselves as beasts - Zeus transformed into a ram, Hera became a white cow and Pan a goat. But in his panic to alter his appearance as the beast descended upon them, Pan had only partially transformed as he threw himself into the Nile. As a result, he ended up with the torso of a man, the horns and legs of a goat and the tail of a fish. Typhon caught Zeus and was dismembering him when Pan distracted the beast long enough for Hermes to piece Zeus back together and heal him. Therefore, some would argue that Zeus immortalised Pan as the constellation of Capricorn as a gesture of gratitude.

Candles:
For optimum safety and enjoyment, please follow our guidelines which will also help to prolong the life of your candle:
• Trim the wick to 6mm length before every use.
• When burning for the first time, allow the candle to burn for at least 2 hours - or to the edge of the vessel - to create a memory and avoid tunnelling.
• Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Avoid drafts and items that may catch alight.
• Keep away from children and pets.
• Do not move a candle while it is lit or wax is melted.
• Extinguish with a candle dipper or snuffer to care for wicks and avoid splashes.
• Keep clean and free of dust and debris.
• Store your candle upright and away from excessive light and temperatures.
• Discard when wax is 10mm from the bottom of the vessel.
Melts:
· Only use melts in an electric
warmer or oil burner that has been specifically designed for soy wax melts.
· Place device on a heat-resistant
surface, away from drafts.
· Snap individual melt bars off
the main block and place the desired amount into the dish of your device. We recommend using one block at a time, but if you have a large dish and require
more fragrance, you can add a second bar.
· Do not add water or any foreign
objects.
· Keep away from children and pets and ensure that any electric warmer cables cannot be reached, pulled at or tripped over.
· Do not move the device while it
contains hot, melted wax.
· Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
· Never leave your device
unattended while in use.
· Each block should provide 10+
hours of fragrance and can be re-used as often as you like, for as long as the fragrance remains.
· Allow wax to cool and reset
before moving the device or switching to a new fragrance.
· To remove cooled, solid wax from your device, turn the device on for approximately 20 seconds to loosen the edges, then carefully slide the solid block from the dish. Use a paper towel to wipe out any melted residue, being careful to avoid burns by touching the hot wax or heated device.
· Never clean your device with
chemicals, as the residue may be flammable and possibly emit harmful gases on subsequent uses.
