The Archer

CONSTELLATION: The Archer

POSITION: 9th Sign of the Zodiac

DATES: November 23 - December 21

ELEMENT: Fire

The constellation, Sagittarius, is widely believed to be in honour of the centaur, Chiron. The centaurs were mythical creatures with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. Many were considered savage, but Chiron was an astrologer, healer and archer, and was considered to be the "wisest and justest of all the centaurs". He was the son of the Titan god, Cronus, and the sea nymph, Philyra, and half-brother to Zeus (god of the sky and the king of gods). He became orphaned and the god, Apollo (god of prophecy, the arts, healing and archery) became his foster father and mentored him. Chiron became a teacher himself and instructed many Greek heroes, including Achilles, Heracles (Hercules), Jason and Asclepius. He was accidently hit in the thigh by one of Heracle's poison arrows during a battle with the centaurs. While the poison couldn't kill the immortal Chiron, he was left to live his days in excruciating pain. He asked Zeus to relieve him of his suffering by giving his immortality to Promtheus (Titan god of fire) who had been imprisoned by Zeus. Zeus then honoured Chiron by placing the constellation of Sagittarius, the archer, in the heavens.

Care information

Candles:

For optimum safety and enjoyment, please follow our guidelines which will also help to prolong the life of your candle:
• Trim the wick to 6mm length before every use.
• When burning for the first time, allow the candle to burn for at least 2 hours - or to the edge of the vessel - to create a memory and avoid tunnelling.
• Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Avoid drafts and items that may catch alight.
• Keep away from children and pets.
• Do not move a candle while it is lit or wax is melted.
• Extinguish with a candle dipper or snuffer to care for wicks and avoid splashes.
• Keep clean and free of dust and debris.
• Store your candle upright and away from excessive light and temperatures.
• Discard when wax is 10mm from the bottom of the vessel.

Melts:

· Only use melts in an electric
warmer or oil burner that has been specifically designed for soy wax melts.

· Place device on a heat-resistant
surface, away from drafts.

· Snap individual melt bars off
the main block and place the desired amount into the dish of your device. We recommend using one block at a time, but if you have a large dish and require
more fragrance, you can add a second bar.

· Do not add water or any foreign
objects.

· Keep away from children and pets and ensure that any electric warmer cables cannot be reached, pulled at or tripped over.

· Do not move the device while it
contains hot, melted wax.

· Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time.

·  Never leave your device
unattended while in use.

· Each block should provide 10+
hours of fragrance and can be re-used as often as you like, for as long as the fragrance remains.

· Allow wax to cool and reset
before moving the device or switching to a new fragrance.

· To remove cooled, solid wax from your device, turn the device on for approximately 20 seconds to loosen the edges, then carefully slide the solid block from the dish. Use a paper towel to wipe out any melted residue, being careful to avoid burns by touching the hot wax or heated device.

· Never clean your device with
chemicals, as the residue may be flammable and possibly emit harmful gases on subsequent uses.
